DTS Outreach Week 7,: La Ceiba, Honduras

La Ceiba Week 7
What can I say?  Our team has been on outreach for the past seven weeks now.  We have seen and done some amazing things here.  Actually the truth is, God has done everything.  He has provided everything we need and worked miracles through us.  He gave us strength on the days we felt weak, healing on the days we were sick, energy when the kids needed to be loved, and patience when we feel overwhelmed.  God doesn’t have to prove that he is anything, but he has proven to be faithful time and time again.  With God, all things are possible and we have seen him do some pretty impossible things.
This has been our last full week of ministry here in La Ceiba and definitely not an easy week.  Every member of our team including the leaders and Bruce have been sick this week.  A bad cough has swept over each of us, more severe for some of us.  Jaimie went to the clinic on Monday to get checked out.  We received news that she has bronchitis or pneumonia; they did not take an x-ray so we can’t be sure, either way it’s serious.  Most of the week she did not have the energy to do anything and was prohibited from participating in children’s ministry.  That was tough because each of us thoroughly enjoy children’s ministry.  Most everyone else was healthy enough to participate with an occasional person staying back to rest.
Since this is Jaimie writing the blog, I truly don’t know all of what happened this week.  I apologize for that but have gathered information from those who have participated in the ministries.  Monday morning, the team went to the church to work on the building.  To start, they sanded part of the walls as they are in need of a new coat of paint very soon.  Unfortunately, they did not get the opportunity to return to finish the painting job.  With everything they do, they give 100% and as I stayed back to go the doctor, I did my part by praying for them.  Sometimes, all we can do is pray.  We pray for prosperity, the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance, God to move mightily in people’s lives, health, energy, and joy.  God answers each and every request.  There have been times that we feel God is not answering us, but sometimes that is because he has not answered them in the way we wanted him to.  We go through trials because God is showing us the way he has for us.  Times do come where our schedule is changed because God wants to use us in a different way.
Tuesday through Thursday we did a mixture of children’s ministry and house visits.  Children’s ministry has been a challenge this week.  The reason for this is that the culture is different here than in the other places we’ve been and therefore, the church is also run differently.  It is not uncommon to find that many people talk during the church service; in fact this is the normal.  Children’s ministry is just the same.  They do not sit still and pay attention very long and it is not just the “little ones” who get restless.  All feel the need to move around or talk to their neighbor.  While it is a hard part of culture to understand, we must accept it as truth and act accordingly to help the children to the best of our ability even through our feelings of unworthiness or incapability.
Pierce and Yuli had the opportunity to fulfill an appointment that only God could have set up.  They visited the TV station down here for an interview.  This station is partnered with one channel in the United States as well.  Only Pierce was interviewed.  Time ran out before Yuli had the opportunity to be interviewed but she took pictures and was there to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide Pierce’s thoughts and words.
House visits was enjoyable as I was able to participate very minimally with the rest of the team.  Not being able to hold the little children was so very hard for me because the children capture my heart in an instant.  God continued to give me the strength to overcome and a joy to be faithful during the times I did participate.  We have received no word of healings in the past few weeks but that does not mean that God is not moving.  There have been many times that he has chosen to move within us during the times we did not want to participate in ministry.  On the days we did not want to spend time in intercession because we simply wanted to go to bed seemed to be the nights that God would speak to us the most.  In all things, keep a good attitude and do those very things you don’t want to as though you were doing them for God and not for men.  Colossians 3:23 reminds us of that and so we correct our attitude and he continues to be faithful.

Empezamos el día con devocional de Pierce después desayunamos. A las 8 fuimos a la iglesia y tuvimos ministerio con niños enfocado en misiones. Después almorzamos y tuvimos un tiempo libre. Cenamos y fuimos al servicio en la noche enfocado también en misiones. Después regresamos a casa y compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 2: lunes 7 de diciembre.
Empezamos el día desayunando después fuimos a la iglesia a hacer trabajitos en la mañana. Almorzamos y fuimos a visitar y a evangelizar casa por casa con algunas hermanas de la iglesia. Regresamos a casa. Cenamos y después tuvimos devocional por Manolo seguimos con adoración por Eliza y por ultimo intercesión dirigida por Manolo. Luego compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 3: martes 8 de diciembre.
Empezamos el día con el devocional por Yuli después desayunamos. En la mañana tuvimos ministerio con los niños de la iglesia. Bruce Pierce y Yuli fueron a la radio después regresaron a la casa. Cenamos y después tuvimos intercesión dirigida por Jaimie. Compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día. 

Día 4: miércoles 9 de diciembre.
Empezamos el día con el devocional por Jaimie después desayunamos. En la mañana tuvimos ministerio con los niños de la iglesia. Almorzamos y después fuimos a visitar y evangelizar casa por casa con algunas hermanas de la iglesia. Cenamos y fuimos al servicio de la noche. Regresamos a casa y compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 5: jueves 10 de diciembre.
Empezamos el día con el devocional por Eliza después desayunamos. En la mañana tuvimos ministerio con los niños de la iglesia. Almorzamos y después fuimos a visitar y evangelizar casa por casa con algunas hermanas de la iglesia. Después tuvimos adoración por Eliza y Compartimos altas y bajas. Cenamos y así termino el día

Día 6: viernes 11 de diciembre.
Empezamos el día con el devocional por Heidi después desayunamos. En la mañana tuvimos evangelismo en el parque de la Ceiba. Regresamos a casa a la 1 de la tarde. Almorzamos y en la tarde tuvimos adoración dirigida por Eliza e intercesión en la playa dirigida por Pierce. Cenamos y fuimos al servicio de la iglesia y ministramos. Regresamos a casa y compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

DTS Outreach Week 6: La Ceiba, Honduras

It took all day, but we arrived in La Ceiba safely.  Thankfully, God saved Heidi and Jaimie from serious injuries when a rock was thrown through their window on the bus.  The window completely shattered within seconds after the rock flew through.  They were hit with glass in the face and along their arms.  Thankfully they came out with only a few tiny scratches on their arms.  We were only 10 minutes from arriving at our destination in La Ceiba.  God watches over us no matter where we are or what situation we are in.

Our first few mornings we spent painting the outside of the pastor’s house.  Before beginning to actually paint, we had to peel away the old paint that was loose at the bottom of the wall and sweep the entire house to rid it of cobwebs and dust.  Monday went well after we fixed the little mess we got ourselves into.  Different people were told different things and we started painting with two different shades of paint.  They were quite close so it was an easy fix and we are all glad that the mistake was caught early in the process.  Many of us stayed on level ground while others were willing to go up the old, rickety wooden ladder to reach the very top of the wall where the rollers would not reach.  That person also painted behind the caged windows so the wall was completely painted one color.

There was no children’s ministry this week but we participated in several services.  Almost every night of the week, something is going on in the church.  People always seem to be gathering to corporately worship the great God we serve.  Worship here is very lively.  Along the coast, the people are descendants of the African slaves that were brought over years ago.  It has been a joy for us to participate in lively worship with them.  To sum it up, they fell their freedom to worship.  Hands go up all around the room, people keep beat to the drums by clapping their hands, people join hands to show they are not alone, shouts of praise and joy ring to the heavens and people sway as the Holy Spirit moves freely inside them.

We prepared for a youth conference which took place on Saturday.  Thursday afternoon we helped make center pieces for the tables.  Friday night we helped in the service as usual, but afterwards was when the real work started.  We were at the church until 11pm setting up and decorating for the conference which took place on Saturday.  During the conference, Yuli and Jaimie had the opportunity to preach.  Their topics were “Changing a generation through a life of dedication” by Yuli, and “Changing a generation through a life of service” by Jaimie.  The stories of Daniel and Joseph were both very helpful to their topics.  God truly speaks to people as they prepare to speak.  Those that deliver the message always seem to receive more than most of the people receive.  God works in mysterious ways.  We were there from 8am until a little after 6pm.  We were all so extremely tired and many of us were sick.  We decided not to wait an hour for the evening service to start and just went home.

“Being a leader is an opportunity to serve and not boast about a title or what you have.”  Manolo reminded us of this while at the conference on Saturday.  While he may not have been trying to come up with a great quote, it is 100% true.  While the coast is a big tourist attraction and the scenery reminds us of being back home in the States, we are here as missionaries to serve and not boast about what we could do while here.

Please keep our team in your prayers.  I’d like to share some of our specific prayers with you all.  We all need health prayers.  Many of us are getting sick with colds, bronchitis, headaches, twisted ankles etc.  As a team, we have been praying for each other for physical healing and also for the strength to finish what we have started.  We want to stay unified as one under the name of Jesus.  Prayers are greatly appreciated also as we think about coming home to our friends and family.  We all want smooth transitions back into our own cultures.  God Bless!

RESUMEN DE LA SEMANA 6

Día 1: domingo 29 de noviembre.

Viajamos todo el día desde las 3:30 am hasta las 8:30 pm. Cenamos nos ubicaron y si termino el día.

Día 2: lunes 30 de noviembre.

El día empezó con el devocional dado por Manolo y después desayunamos a las 8:00 am. En la mañana pintaron las paredes de la casa del pastor Nino. Almorzamos y tuvimos tiempo de adoración dirigida por Jaimie y luego tiempo de Intercesión dirigida por Eliza. Parte de la tarde fue libre después cenamos y así termino el día.

Día 3: martes 1 de diciembre.

 El día empezó con el devocional dado por Yuli y después desayunamos a las 8:00 am. En la Mañana se siguió pintando las paredes de la casa del pastor Nino. Almorzamos y tuvimos tiempo de adoración dirigido por Jaimie y luego tiempo de intercesión dirigido por Yuli. Parte de la tarde fue libre después cenamos y fuimos al servicio allí nos presentaron e hicimos un drama. Regresamos y tuvimos tiempo de compartir altas y bajas del día y así termino nuestro día.

Día 4: miércoles 2 de diciembre.

El día empezó con el devocional dado por Jaimie y después desayunamos a las 8:00 am.  Después en la mañana fuimos hacer evangelismo en el parque de la ceiba. Regresamos y almorzamos. En la tarde tuvimos intercesión dirigida por Heidi y el resto de la tarde fue libre. Cenamos y fuimos al servicio en la noche donde ministramos y dirigimos. Regresamos y compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 5: viernes 3 de diciembre.

El día empezó con el devocional dado por Eliza y después desayunamos a las 8:00 am. Tuvimos adoración dirigida por Jaimie y Se termino de pintar la parte que faltaba de la casa del pastor Nino en la mañana. A medio día almorzamos y luego en la tarde ayudamos a hacer los adornos para el congreso del sábado. Cenamos y fuimos a la iglesia donde compartimos la dirección del servició con el equipo que venía del Salvador. Después del Servicio adornamos y así termino el día.

Día 6: Sábado 9 de Diciembre.

Empezamos el día con devocional dado Haidi después desayunamos. Estuvimos todo el día en el congreso donde Jaimie y Yuli dieron plenarias y todos estuvimos sirviendo en el congreso. En la noche compartimos altar y bajas. Después regresamos a la casa y así termino el día.

Heaven Meets Earth

Our week in San Miguel Chicaj was very short.  For some it felt even shorter because they were unable to participate with the team due to an illness.  We all learned different things.  Jaimie learned how to overcome frustration through prayer for her team.  Even though she was unable to participate in house visits for two days, she learned just how important her prayers still are over those her team is encountering.  Prayer also empowers her teammates giving them the strength they need to continue praying over others.  Yuli has learned the importance of patience.  As she stayed back one day, she learned to simply wait for God’s perfect timing even when we want to do things our way.  All of us learned about flexibility.  We had the opportunity to work with another YWAM team who were from Juarez, Mexico all week.  Sharing our times of ministry, getting to know new people, and learning other ministry styles has been wonderful.  Sharing a kitchen for two teams would not be possible so we helped out the other team who already had a meal plan.  This suited both teams perfectly.

First day of ministry began with putting fresh paint on walls.  One of the buildings rented by the San Miguel Chicaj YWAM base still had its old school label pasted on the front of it.  The paint previously used to paint these signs was oil based and we had new paint that was water based.  To begin, all that oil had to be scraped off so the new paint would stick.  Then an entire new coat of paint was put on over the wall.  Several of the Guatemalan men looked at Jaimie weird because girls don’t usually paint and especially don’t climb a ladder.  I guess they got to see something new as well because she didn’t mind what other people thought about it.

Visiting radio stations has become a routine for us in Guatemala.  There is a saying, “Third time’s a charm” is actually quite true.  Everyone came back saying that it went better than the first two.  I think we just needed some experience which we all have received quite a bit by now.

Most of the other ministries we partook in were quite routine.  Evangelism in the park is the same set up but with different people God wants to encounter.  We do dramas to draw a crowd and give testimonies with the gospel message.  Afterwards, we all go out in small groups to talk with the people.  I have yet to see a person come up to me so we have made the habit of going out to the people.  Many of us learn things about the Holy Spirit and how he works during these times.  Some of us see someone who God highlights but we don’t know why.  As we begin talking with them, the Holy Spirit reveals more about the situation and then lovingly pushes you out of your comfort zone with an action.  The Holy Spirit can move in the other person but most often, he wants to use us as his tools.  For this reason, we have learned to be comfortable in stepping outside our comfort zones.

Family is a huge part of the Central American culture.  It is important that we take the opportunities given us to go out into the community and visit families.  Not one person on earth could say their life is perfect.  We all need prayer for one thing or another and the people here are very eager to receive prayer.  While I know of no miracles occurring this week, many felt the Holy Spirit’s presence heavily during these times.  I believe they are being healed, we just didn’t have the opportunity to see the change.  On the other hand, we did receive word that Delila, one of our cooks in Yulmacap and Barillas, has been healed.  Delila had a cyst which required surgery.  We all felt the Holy Spirit present and working before we said goodbye to her, but didn’t receive word of her healing until after her next doctor appointment.  She joyfully contacted us to share the wonderful news.

God is at work all around us.  All one must do is simply be obedient and open their eyes to see just how mightily God is moving.  The joy we have found is that God does not work from afar; he works through us.  Each time we obey his call to action, we bring God’s heavenly kingdom down to earth.  Heaven truly can touch earth and the meeting point is you and I.

Empezamos el día con desayuno luego empacamos el microbús y después empezamos nuestro camino a San Miguel. Llegando a la base del lugar kathy y Daniel nos dieron orientación sobre varias cosas. En la noche tuvimos servicio y después cena y conocimos al equipo de Paso Juárez. Fuimos a ministrar a una Iglesia en la noche y así termino el día

Día 2: lunes 23 de Noviembre

El día empezó a las 8 am con desayuno. Después unos pintaron la pared de enfrente de la casa donde estábamos hospedados mientras que otros limpiaban la casa por dentro. A medio día almorzamos y luego salimos para el hospital de Salamá a visitar y orar por los enfermos después también fuimos a evangelizar al parque y fue un trabajo compartido con la otra EDE del paso Juárez. Tuvimos cena y luego tuvimos intercesión dirigida por Manolo. Después recibimos el devocional dado por Eliza. Compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 3: martes 24  de Noviembre

El día empezó a las 8 am con desayunó. Después tuvimos adoración dirigida por Yuli e intercesión dirigida por Jaimie. Fuimos a Evangelismo Personal y algunos casa por casa. A medio día almorzamos y luego salimos a la cárcel de Salamá a visitar y evangelizar a los presos. Cenamos y en la noche fuimos a Evangelizar. Tuvimos el devocional por Heidi. Compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 4: miércoles 25 de Noviembre

El día empezó a las 7am con el desayuno. Después nos dirigimos a la aldea donde hicimos el ministerio compartiendo también con la otra EDE del paso Juárez. Estando en la aldea se empezó a repartir casa por casa los nuevos testamentos en Rabinal achi.  Almorzamos y en la tarde ministramos en la iglesia Nathareno en esa aldea. Regresamos a San Miguel Chicaj y cenamos.  Después en la casa tuvimos servicio de adoración donde ministramos. Después tuvimos el devocional por Pierce. Compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 5: jueves 26 de Noviembre

El día empezó con el desayuno a las 8 am. Luego tuvimos ministerio en la Radio. Después a medio día almorzamos. A las 2 pm salimos a otra aldea donde se fue a evangelizar casa por casa y después cena. Luego hubo un servicio donde se ministro igual compartiendo con la otra EDE. Después regresamos a la casa compartimos un tiempo con Kathy y su equipo donde se despidieron. Después compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 6: viernes 27 de Noviembre

Empezamos el día empacando el microbús. Después tuvimos desayuno a las 8 am. Después nos despedimos de la otra EDE del paso Juárez. Luego salimos con rumbo a la base. Almorzamos y llegamos a las 3 pm. Tuvimos intercesión dirigida por Pierce. Tuvimos tiempo libre. Cenamos y así termino el día.

DTS Outreach Week 4

Two weeks ago, we spent a week in Barillas. In this city we split most of our time between children's ministry and evening services. The children have found a special place in all of our hearts. They all loved to play, hug, and kiss us!  On our last day of children’s ministry our team dressed up as clowns to surprise the kids.  While we didn’t actually have clown outfits, we did our best to mismatch….especially with our makeup.  I can’t even begin to describe just how much everyone absolutely loved it!

Many opportunities arise for us to minister.  God is not limited in the ways He will work through us and move in the lives of others.  As a team, we enjoyed our second time participating in radio broadcast.  This has been a challenge for many of us.  Several of us do not like to hear the way our voices sound on radio and others greatly enjoy sharing their testimony on air to all those listening.  No matter what the case may be, God is still working in our lives.  For some, He may be encouraging us to go beyond our personal comfort zone and others He is affirming our desires.  Everyone is on a different level but the beauty of being a part of a team is that you have people around you to encourage you when you step out of your comfort zone.  No matter where you go, you are never alone while with a team.

For many of us, our favorite activities were leading the evening services. At the end of each service, we have a time of “ministry.” Everyone comes to the front as the worship team plays and our team prays over the people. The Holy Spirit has moved mightily! Some nights we didn't get to pray for everyone, but we believe that we prayed for everyone whom the Holy Spirit highlighted for us. We have received words of knowledge for people, prayed for things as the Holy Spirit reveals them to us, and been able to see just how much the Holy Spirit wants to encounter the people. Praying in tongues is a more regular thing for some of us to take part in while praying  Others are just learning how to allow the Holy Spirit to use them in that way. One girl was slain in the Spirit while she was being prayed, others received comfort, emotional healing, physical healing etc. The Holy Spirit has been so faithful this past week. What's amazing, is that we as a team were unified and as we poured the Holy Spirit into others, we ourselves were being filled up.

To end each week, we always make sure to pray over our volunteer staff.  This past week we had three wonderful people helping us.  Delilah and Andrea were our cooks and translators last week in Yulmacap who signed on to help us two weeks in a row.  It was a huge blessing for all of us that they agreed to sign up for two weeks straight.  They both have families of their own, yet decided to bless us with more of their time.  Specifically, Delilah has a cist for which we prayed.  The Holy Spirit was working, we could all sense his presence.  Andrea is nineteen years old and greatly struggled parting with us.  We all became family within the two weeks and she knew that the probability of us coming back was very unlikely.  The third person we worked with was Milo.  He was our faithful chauffeur all week.  There was no complaint when times and events changed.  As we prayed for him, we could tell that something larger was going on but we prayed as the Holy Spirit directed us and he was immensely blessed.  God is always faithful to those who ask.

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Heidi a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15. En la mañana fuimos al servicio en la iglesia Evangelio Completo en donde hicimos un pequeño devocional y oramos por las dos hermanas que llegaron. Almorzamos a medio día y en la tarde fuimos de nuevo a la iglesia al Servicio General en donde primero estuvimos ministrando a los niños y luego a con los adultos hicimos dramas un testimonio predica y ministración. Regresamos a la casa a cenar y tuvimos tiempo de adoración dirigida por Jaimie e intercesión por Pierce. Compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 2: lunes 16 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Pierce a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9 fuimos a evangelizar al parque central e hicimos dramas y dimos 2 testimonios. A medio día fuimos a almorzar y a las dos tuvimos ministerio con niños en la Iglesia por escuela de vacaciones. Regresamos a la casa y cenamos. Tuvimos tiempo de adoración dirigida por Jaimie e intercesión por Yuli. Compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 3: martes 17 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Manolo a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9 fuimos a evangelizar al parque central e hicimos alabanza dramas y dimos 2 testimonios. A medio día fuimos a almorzar y a las dos tuvimos ministerio con niños en la Iglesia por escuela de vacaciones. Regresamos a la casa y cenamos. Después regresamos a la iglesia y hubo servicio de oración y ministramos allí. Compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 4: miércoles 18 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Yuli a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9 fuimos a evangelizar al parque central e hicimos alabanza dramas y dimos 2 testimonios. A medio día fuimos a almorzar y a las dos tuvimos nuestro último día de ministerio con niños en la Iglesia por escuela de vacaciones. Regresamos a la casa y cenamos. Volvimos a la iglesia porque el pastor nos pidió que estuviésemos en el servicio de jóvenes. Dirigimos el servicio con adoración dramas predica y hubo una hermosa ministración. Regresamos a casa y así termino el día.

Día 5: jueves 19 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Jaimie a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, luego a las 8 fuimos a visitar a Marcela una nena que tiene cáncer de piel. A las 9:30 tuvimos adoración dirigida por Jaimie y después intercesión dirigida por Heidi. Después ensayamos dos dramas nuevos. Almorzamos y a la1 fuimos a una radio comunitaria que se llama Radio Luz. Allí tuvimos adoración testimonios una reflexión e intercesión por las personas.  A las 4 fuimos a una cena especial que nos tenían en la iglesia la familia pastoral estuvimos en el servicio general y regresamos a la casa nos oramos y nos despedimos de Milo Dalila y Andrea. Compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así terminamos el día.

Día 6: Viernes 20 de noviembre

Empezamos el día desayunando a las 5 de la mañana y empacamos y viajamos todo el día desde barillas hasta Antigua llegamos a las 9:00 pm y cenamos y así termino el día.

DTS OUTREACH WEEK 3

Yulmacap Week 3            ~Jaimie Brown

God works in the most mysterious ways, he uses the seemingly most insignificant people, and blesses the outcast and forsaken.  When all hope is gone, joy, peace, cheerfulness and eternal hope are found in the village of Yulmacap.

Our purpose in going to Yulmacap was to bring joy to the many children who live there and to bring encouragement and prayer to the sick.  Yulmacap is a town with a population of 400 families.  Several children have a very rare form of genetically transmitted cancer that is caused by exposure to ultraviolet light.  These children have been robbed of a normal childhood, yet somehow, they have more joy and happiness than anyone I’ve ever met.  There is no cure for this disease, it’s terminal, it’s slow, and it’s painful.  Literally, their skin is just rotting away, tumors are growing, and they’re losing their sight.  Some die at the age 13 while others I met are still alive at 20 years old.

One particular girl we prayed for named Elisa had a small tumor growing on the top of her ear.  She had trouble sleeping at night because her eyes stung constantly.  After the group left their house, we received word that afternoon that shortly after they left, Elisa’s tumor scaled and fell off.  With it went the pain she had in her eyes and head.  We had the opportunity to go back to visit her and see the plain scare that was left.  It looked as if no tumor had grown there, it was smooth, not like it had been surgically removed, it was clean and no scab but skin.  Elisa had slept much better the night.

Despite the fact that this skin cancer is terminal, the families have joy and happiness.  Walking into each of the houses, I could sense the presence of peace without even trying.  Ester is 20 years old and could not stop holding my hand.  She would pet it, count my fingers, and just play with my hands.  Ester is blind but is just so content to have you sit next to her.  Her two sisters are not doing as well as she is with their skin cancer because they go out in the sun from time to time which makes everything worse.  Each one of the children are special and have a distinctly unique relationship with God that I will never have.  The only thing they have to cling to is God because they don’t have friends that come visit and they cannot go outside because of the sun’s harmful rays.

Children’s ministry took up the majority of our time.  The children love to play with people.  They are all looking for attention because there is literally nothing to do in this village.  They have one concrete slab which serves as their basketball and soccer court.  Three hours was the general time frame we had each day with the kids and for the first full hour, we simply played with them.  After the Bible lesson on Thursday (our last day of kids ministry), we planned a lot of special games to end the week with a huge bang.  We had six different stations with a short game at each one.  They would travel from station to station playing the games.  Some of us got full of flour but all of us had fun.  Just as it started to sprinkle, we finished with a water balloon fight.  There were more than 70 kids!  When the balloons were gone, the kids used every available bag they could find to fill with water to pour on us.  Even though it was pouring rain by this time, the boys stayed and continued to get us wet

The third thing our team participated in this week was proclaiming scripture over the village of Yulmacap.  During intercession one morning, God laid it on someone’s heart that the gospel had to be read out loud over Yulmacap.  Throughout the rest of the week, each team would take turns visiting houses or reading through the four gospels.  It was cool to see how many children would come and sit down next to us simply to listen to us speak English.  They wouldn’t bother us or ask for anything, they simply liked to be close to us and listen to a different language.  This brought a smile to many of our faces because they could’ve gone off and played soccer or something else but instead they chose to sit and listen to a language they didn’t understand for an hour straight.

Leaving on Friday was hard for some of us.  Driving away, there was more than one who felt like they were leaving home.  Even though we only spent one week in Yulmacap, the people there have permanently impacted all of our hearts.

Empezamos el día con el desayuno a las 6 de la mañana. Luego empacamos oramos por la familia donde nos hospedamos y luego salimos de San Pedro a san pablo y de san pablo a barillas. Todo el día viajamos y llegamos a las 8 de la noche. Cenamos y a dormir.

Día 2: domingo 08 de noviembre

El día empezó con el desayuno luego empacamos el carro a las 8:30 y salimos para Yulmacap. Llegamos a medio día y almorzamos. Tuvimos tiempo libre y luego cenamos. Tuvimos una dificultad y fue que la luz se fue y no pudimos dar la película ni dramas que teníamos planeados para ese día así que no lo hicimos y así termino el día.

Día 3: lunes 09 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Pierce a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, luego tuvimos adoración dirigida por Eliza y después intercesión dirigida por Manolo, después a las 10 de la mañana tuvimos visita, el grupo b  fue a visitar a los niños con cáncer y a sus familias y el grupo a se quedo leyendo la biblia. Almorzamos y a las 2 de la tarde tuvimos ministerio con los niños. Cenamos y  a las 7 de la noche tuvimos dramas y dimos una película. Después compartimos altas y bajas y así terminamos el día.

Día 4: martes 10 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Manolo a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 8:30 el grupo a fue a visitar a los niños con cáncer y a sus familias a Yuljobe un pueblo cercano mientras que el grupo b se quedo haciendo trabajos. Almorzamos y a las 2 tuvimos ministerio con niños. Cenamos y compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día. 

Día 5: miércoles 11 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Yuli a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, luego tuvimos adoración dirigida por Eliza y después intercesión dirigida por Jaimie. A las 10 de la mañana tuvimos visita, el grupo b  fue a visitar a los niños con cáncer y a sus familias y el grupo a se quedo haciendo trabajos. Almorzamos y a las 2 de la tarde tuvimos ministerio con los niños. Cenamos y  a las 7 de la noche fuimos a la iglesia  y así terminamos el día.

Día 6: jueves 12 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Jaimie a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, después compartimos nuestras altas y bajas del día anterior. Tuvimos adoración dirigida por Eliza y después intercesión dirigida por Eliza. A las 10 de la mañana tuvimos visita, el grupo a  fue a visitar a los niños con cáncer y a sus familias y el grupo b se quedo leyendo. Almorzamos y a las 2 de la tarde tuvimos nuestro último día de ministerio con los niños, fue muy especial y todos jugamos con ellos bastante tiempo. Cenamos. después compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día.

 

Día 7: viernes 13 de noviembre

Desayunamos a las 7:30 y tuvimos devocional por Eliza después del desayuno. A las 8:30 empacamos y luego oramos por la familia donde nos hospedamos y salimos para Barillas llegamos a medio día. Almorzamos. Tuvimos tiempo libre. Cenamos y fuimos al servicio donde presentamos dramas y tuvimos tiempo de adoración. Después compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Desayunamos, y empezamos a empacar, oramos y dimos un presente a la familia en la casa donde estuvimos, luego nos fuimos para san Pedro, llegamos a San Pedro, almorzamos y luego en la tarde hicimos caminata de oración, y fuimos a evangelizar al parque, después nos fuimos al servicio de Oración en la iglesia del pastor Antonio, regresamos, cenamos y luego compartimos nuestras bajas y altas.

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Manolo a las 7:15, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:30, luego en la mañana fuimos a san pablo al servicio de la mañana donde predico Manolo, luego regresamos a san Pedro, almorzamos, y luego tuvimos adoración dirigida por Heidi e  intercesión dirigida por Pierce, luego fuimos al servicio de la noche donde dio su testimonio Jeimy y predico Heidi, luego regresamos a San Pedro y luego compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Yuli a las 7:15, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:30, luego en la mañana tuvimos intercesión dirigida por Yuli fuimos al cementerio de San Pedro a evangelizar y entregar tratados a las personas que estaban celebrando todavía el día de los muertos, almorzamos en San Pedro y luego en la tarde hicimos dramas y dimos nuestros testimonios en una de las calles que estaban frente al cementerio, luego hicimos evangelismo personal, después regresamos, cenamos, tuvimos adoración dirigida por Heidi, y luego compartimos altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 1: martes 3 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Jeimy a las 7:15, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:30, en la mañana nos fuimos para san Pablo, y allí visitamos familias entre las cuales visitamos a una familia donde  estaban agradecidos con Dios porque la hija se graduaría el viernes, también a una mujer que tuvo un accidente y tenia golpeado el pie y no podía caminar, andaba en muletas, también a una mujer que este año perdió a su hijo por agresiones psicológicas de un compañero del trabajo, oramos por cada una de las necesidades, luego almorzamos y en la tarde tuvimos ministerio con los niños, estuvimos en el servicio de oración de la noche en la iglesia del pastor Antonio, luego regresamos a san Pedro, cenamos y luego compartimos altas y bajas, y así termino el día.

Día 1: miércoles 4 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Eliza a las 7:15, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:30, salimos a San Pablo a visitar nuevamente a familias, pero antes oramos por el colegio de la iglesia del pastor Antonio, luego fuimos a visitar  a varias persona entre las cuales una señora que tenia derrame, también por una joven que la aquejaban los nervios, también por un hombre que su hijo tomaba mucho y por otras personas más, oramos por ellos. Almorzamos y luego tuvimos ministerio con niños, después regresamos a San Pedro donde fuimos a la radio amistad, donde Yuli dio su testimonio y Eliza dio su testimonio y reflexión, pero también hubo adoración, luego cenamos y después compartimos las Altas y bajas y así termino el día.

Día 1: jueves 5 de noviembre

Empezamos el día con el devocional que fue dado por Heidi a las 8:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 8:15, luego tuvimos adoración dirigida por Heidi y después intercesión dirigida por Eliza, luego tuvimos un par de horas libres, y luego almorzamos, después fuimos a visitar a los David y Sara King, oramos por ellos, por sus metas y anhelos en San Pedro, Luego tuvimos evangelismo, después fuimos a San Pablo al servicio de la noche y allí, dirigimos nosotros el servicio. Hubo adoración, dramas, Yuli dio su testimonio y Eliza predico, regresamos a San Pedro, cenamos y compartimos nuestras altas y bajas y así termino el día y la semana de ministerio.

Week 2:  San Pedro by Jaimie Brown

Week 2 of outreach has come to a close.  Pastor Antonio and his wife Cata were graciously willing to allow us to stay at their house in dorm rooms.  Cata stays at home to keep the house running while Pastor Antonio goes out to visit families, leads numerous Bible studies in the evenings, is the principle to the church’s school, and teaches ministry classes to young men who want to become pastors.  They are both very dedicated to their work and flexible when plans change.

Most of our ministry time was spent in San Pablo across the lake.  That is where we spent last week doing ministry but this week we were working with Pastor Antonio’s church instead of Pastor Ephraim’s church.  We did not participate in a whole lot of children’s ministry this week but the times we were a huge blessing to the children.  They absolutely love it when we come out to play with them.  Contrary to their culture, the children would show up early because they wanted to play with the Latinos and Gringos.

Visiting and praying for the families in the community is always very important in Guatemala.  Families are so welcoming and friendly but even more than that, they genuinely appropriate the fact that people came from different countries in the world just to visit and pray for them.  One lady we prayed for had a fractured ankle.  She slipped on the mountain while carrying a heavy bag of freshly picked coffee beans.  As we prayed, the pain eased up but didn’t completely go away.  She doesn’t believe in a cast so she just had it wrapped in cloths.  After prayer she could move her toes and the pain had subsided, but when asked if we could remove the bandage to check and possibly pray again, she became hesitant and refused.  Our entire team had the grace and patience to accept her answer as a no and move on.  We follow the Holy Spirit’s leading but the choice is always up to the person and we always respect their wishes even if we think the Holy Spirit wanted to do more for that person.  It’s not easy to accept a no but with the grace of God, it is possible.

The other big thing our team did was lead the various bible studies at Pastor Antonio’s church.   Leading worship, performing dramas, giving testimonials, and delivering sermons are all a part of this.  It is nice to have six people on the team to divide things between us.

God continues to work in the lives of the people and he continues to soften our hearts to see things from his perspective.  Thank you for your continual prayers and support, many blessings to you!

DTS Outreach: Week 1

Our DTS class will be on outreach until December 18. We will be traveling to 6 different locations in Guatemala and Honduras. Each week the students will write a report of events and activites.

Week 1: October 24-30

Sometimes the road seems long but we are already done with our first week of outreach!  This is a big celebration for all of us students.  We all made it through lecture phase together as a team, lifting each other up when necessary and just being good companions the rest of the times.  Each one of us has grown in many areas.

This has been our first week to test out how we work together as a team on the mission field.  We all did very well, even while under spiritual pressure.  Visiting families in the community was a challenge for some of us.  Praying for people with spirits can be very scary for some and while we all received the head knowledge that God is always with us so we have no need to fear, this week has greatly helped in moving that knowledge from our heads into our hearts.

Healing and restoration can be a regular occurrence in our lives today.  We prayed for a woman who had been experiencing spirits for the past 4 weeks.  When they seized her, she would go for days on end without eating, drinking, talking, or getting out of bed.  She had pain all over her body but the pain moved.  A few days after praying for her, we received word that she has been completely healed and set free!

Not everyone thought they would like doing children’s ministry.  Yes, challenges arise but there are six of us students to help handle any issues that arise.  We have all become enthusiastic about working with the children.  Building relationships with them is vital.  With an average of 25 kids each day, only 6 attend church.  The rest are street kids; not homeless but left without supervision all day.  Building a short relationship with them is just to show them they are loved.  They don’t get the love they need at home so many act out simply to get attention.  Their relationship with Jesus will continue on even after we leave which is why we tell them how much Jesus loves them too.

Sharing your testimony on the street with whoever will listen is no piece of cake, but the impact that is left for the people is something they will never forget.  When we share stories from our own lives, they relate to us, accept us, and many open up and ask for prayer.  Performing dramas has seemed to be the thing we have feared the least but the Gospel message is hard for some of us to give after that drama.  We have found some creative ways of relating the drama to the message and/or our own personal testimonies.

We had the privilege of visiting a 10 year old girl named Lucia on her birthday.  Lucia has cerebral palsy.  The last hospital her mother removed her from was generous enough to give them one tank of oxygen with the warning that Lucia would die the same day that oxygen ran out.  Praise the Lord, she has been off the oxygen for 24 days and counting!  She is in so much pain but is such a blessing to her mom and all of us students!  God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!  He still has a purpose for her life.

RESUMEN DE LA SEMANA

Día 1: sábado 24 de octubre

Salimos de la base a las 10:00 am y empezamos el viaje, en medio del viaje, habían retenes (policías verificando los papeles), nos pararon dos veces y en las dos querían que les presentaran un seguro de viaje y querían saber si eran turistas o que eran, y pidieron los pasaporte o algún papel de identificación, pero la mayoría no portaban ni sus pasaportes, ni ninguna copia y solo Eliza mostro su pasaporte, pero el policía le dijo a quique que eran Q5,500 de multa, y entonces bajaron a Quique del microbús, y le pidieron Q100 para no ponerle la multa, después de ese altercado, todo estuvo bien en el viaje, llegamos a San Pablo, los pastores nos recibieron y nos ubicaron, luego almorzamos, y nuestros líderes nos dieron las indicaciones necesarias del área y luego nos leyeron el programa de la semana, estuvimos descansando un momento y luego cenamos. A las 7:00 pm salimos a evangelizar, estuvimos en la cancha de básquetbol en un acto de clausura de primaria, estuvimos conociendo a las personas y hablándoles de Cristo. Cuando  regresamos, tuvimos nuestro tiempo para compartir nuestras Altas y Bajas del día, nos despedimos y así termino el día.

Día 2: domingo 25 de octubre

Empezamos el día con tiempo quieto a las 6:30 am, después el devocional que fue dado por Yuli a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9:00 fuimos a ministrar a los niños en la Iglesia del pastor Efrain Alva, puesto que les celebraron el día del niño, a las 11:00 fuimos a evangelismo en una de las calles de San Marcos, en el cual, Yuli dio testimonio, se hicieron dos dramas que fueron, títeres y El hombre del pañuelo, y Manolo predico, a las 13:00 regresamos y almorzamos, a las 16:00 fuimos al servicio dominical y presentamos el drama un nuevo corazón y Eliza dio su testimonio, disfrutamos estar en el servicio y  a las 20:30 tuvimos nuestro tiempo de compartir nuestras altas y bajas del día.nos despedimos y así termino el día.

Día 3: lunes 26 de octubre

Empezamos el día con tiempo quieto a las 6:30 am, después el devocional que fue dado por Jeimy a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9:00 empezamos a visitar a muchas familias, entre las cuales encontramos a Sefora una chica con dolor de cabeza fuerte, también a otras chicas que su madre tenía problemas y pidieron oración por eso, después visitamos a mujer llamada Candy la cual su madre está enferma de cáncer y ella era la que la cuidaba, oramos por ellas y sintieron paz. A las 12:00 almorzamos y a las 14:00 horas nos dispusimos a Salir al ministerio de los niños en la Iglesia del pastor Efrain Alva, estuvimos allí, fue de gran emoción y de gran bendición estar con los niños, terminamos y a las 17:00 horas fuimos a cenar, a las 19:00 tuvimos la Adoración dirigida por Yuli, y a las 19:30 tuvimos el momento de intercesión dirigido por Manolo, a las 20:30 tuvimos nuestro tiempo de compartir nuestras altas y bajas del día.nos despedimos y así termino el día.

Día 4: Martes 27 de octubre

Empezamos el día con tiempo quieto a las 6:30 am, después el devocional que fue dado por Eliza a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9:00 empezamos a visitar a muchas familias, entre las cuales visitamos a Estela que es una mujer oprimida por lo demonios, luego visitamos a un joven drogadicto, y también visitamos a la pequeña lucia, que a todos nos movió el corazón a todos y nos hizo valorar más la vida, oramos por ella para que Dios hiciera la voluntad de Él en ella, y también nos sorprendió la actitud de la María la mamá de Lucia pues la cuidaba con un amor incomparable y oramos también por ella. Después a las 12:00 almorzamos y a las 14:00 horas nos dispusimos a Salir al ministerio de los niños en la Iglesia del pastor Efrain Alva, estuvimos allí, fue de gran emoción y de gran bendición estar con los niños, terminamos y a las 17:30 horas fuimos a cenar, a las 19:00 tuvimos la Adoración dirigida por Yuli, a las 19:30 tuvimos nuestro tiempo de compartir nuestras altas y bajas del día.nos despedimos y así termino el día.

Día 5: Miercoles 28 de octubre

Empezamos el día con tiempo quieto a las 6:30 am, después el devocional que fue dado por Pierce a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 9:00 empezamos a visitar a muchas familias, puedo recordar a Pablo y Maria que pidieron oración por su hijo, que es alcohólico y drogadicto, y nos contaron un poco de la historia de el, después fuimos a ver a otra cuantas familias. A las 12:00 almorzamos y a las 14:00 horas nos dispusimos a Salir al ministerio de los niños en la Iglesia del pastor Efrain Alva, estuvimos allí, fue de gran emoción y de gran bendición estar con los niños, nos despedimos de ellos y nos abrazaron y fue muy bonito, después fuimos a visitar y a orar por un hombre llamado Cesar quien es oprimido por demonios y oramos y quedamos que íbamos a visitarlo al siguiente día, terminamos y a las 17:30 horas fuimos a cenar, a las 19:00  tuvimos el momento de intercesión dirigido por Jeimy, a las 20:30 tuvimos nuestro tiempo de compartir nuestras altas y bajas del día.nos despedimos y así termino el día.

Día 6: Jueves 29 de octubre

Empezamos el día con tiempo quieto a las 6:30 am, después el devocional que fue dado por Heidi a las 7:00, tuvimos el desayuno a las 7:15, a las 8:30 tuvimos adoración dirigida por Yuli y a las 9:00 tuvimos intercesión por Heidi, esa hora la utilizamos para orar por las familias que fuimos a visitar y por los niños que llegaron al ministerio, pero también para interceder y pedirle a Dios por palabra para Cesar, Maria y Lucia, después a las 10:00 salimos a evangelismo a diferentes lugares de San Juan la Laguna, allí Jeimy y Heidi dieron sus testimonios e hicimos los dramas Un nuevo corazón, y Hombre de Trapo. A las 12:30 almorzamos, y a las 14:00 fuimos a visitar de nuevo a Cesar llevándole la palabra de Dios que recibimos para el en la intercesión, también visitamos a María y Lucia llevándoles también las palabras departe de Dios que recibimos, también visitamos a Sefora la chica del dolor de cabeza, y Oramos en las tres casas ´por cada uno de ellos, a las 17:30 cenamos. A las 19:00 horas fuimos al servicio el Jueves, el cual dirigimos todo nosotros, la adoración al principio por Heidi y Jeimy, luego hicimos el drama de la tentación y Pierce dio su testimonio, luego hicimos el drama de las 3 casas, y después Jeimy predico, luego hubo un momento de adoración y ministración dirigido por Eliza, Enrique y Yuli, bruce paso a hablar un poco mas de Fe, y luego el pastor termino el servicio. A las 21:00 tuvimos nuestro tiempo de compartir nuestras altas y bajas del día.nos despedimos y así termino el día.

Base Construction Update

Construction of the new YWAM Antigua base has finally begun!  The foundation has been dug and hopefully this week concrete block will be laid and the pillars will be poured.  We are excited to see the structure be built and pray that everything will go smoothly.

 The base will have two levels with 8 dorm rooms, large kitchen and dining room on the first floor and a large meeting room on the second floor.  We will need to raise additional funds for the second floor construction.  The property adjacent to us is for sale and we are interested in purchasing part of it.
DTS Outreach
In four week the DTS will begin its outreach.  We are planning to be in Guatemala for 5 weeks and Honduras for 3 weeks.  The students are making preparations, learning dramas, writing testimonies, and preparing programs for children, youth and adults.

New Summer Program
We will be offering a new program called Summer Spanish Language School and Outreach.  Dates of the program will be July 3-30.  It will include Discipleship training and Spanish language classes for 3 weeks and the final week will be focused on conducting an outreach in Guatemala.  It will be a great opportunity to learn Spanish and minister to the people of Guatemala through a variety of ministries.  Our website has all the information and application.

 YWAM Antigua Base Newsletter.... Fall 2015

After months of waiting we are finally getting ready to start construction on the new YWAM Antigua Base. We were blessed by a team of 15 men from San Pablo la Laguna who helped us clear the land and move some huge rocks. We are looking forward to moving to the new base as it will provide a much better facility for our ministries. Our goal is to construct the first level by Christmas and complete the second level as soon as possible as we receive the money needed. The architect has estimated that the second floor will cost about $60,000 and we will need to raise funds to complete it. We are receiving teams to help with the construction in late October, November and December. If you want to come down to help it would be greatly appreciated. Any money we can save on labor will help us with having funds for the second floor construction.

Our current DTS is in the fifth week of classes. We are praying for the outreach locations and ask that you pray with us. Our February DTS already has 6 students enrolled. They will be our first group in the new base facility.

We are going to offer a new program July 3-30 called Summer Spanish School and Outreach. It will include 3 weeks of Spanish language instruction combined with Discipleship training. The final week will be dedicated to outreach in communities in Guatemala.

Courtney

I have been on staff at the base here in Antigua for about a month now and am adjusting to the flow of life here! I am in the process of learning Spanish, and am mainly helping with the kids ministries of the base. Tuesdays I prepare a Bible story, craft and games for the kids that come with their mothers to the weekly mom’s club at the base. Last week we had over twenty-five kids come! It is usually a slightly crazy, but fun time!

Claire

I’m Claire and I work primarily with the Discipleship Training School. This school we have six students from four different countries. Right now we are in the lecture phase of the school and my responsibility is to work with the girls. I meet individually with each girl every week and conduct a small group once a week. Apart from working with the girls I also help with all the activities involved with the school throughout the week. I am very blessed to be able to work along side these students as they grow deeper in their relationships with God and minister to God’s people.

We have started to run our second Discipleship Training School for this year! I am once again interpreting for the teachers who are coming to teach for a week to our students. We have two students from Guatemala, one student from Germany, one student from Honduras, and two students from the United States.

We had a couple from Guatemala City who came to teach on "God’s Nature and Character." It was a powerful class. They emphasized the fact that we need to know the God that we believed in to be able to share Him with others! God is merciful, God is truthful, God is love and He chooses to love us!

Yo soy nueva en la Base, tengo 2 meses de ser staff.

Bueno Dios a puesto en mi corazon de servir en el ministerio con las mujeres,ya que se encuentra tanta necesidad en ellas,para ser este canal de bendicion y que ellas tengan esta relacion con Dios y bean que Dios las ama.Tambien se hacen manualidades con ellas,ejercicio y asi las apoyamos para que ellas bean que Dios a cada una de nosotras nos a dado habilidades y destrezas,y por medio de esto tambiem les estamos afirmando que ellas pueden,Porque para Dios no hay nada imposible.

Tambien estoy apoyando en el ministerio de Kid’s Clubes un ministerio muy hermoso .El senor a puesto en mi corazon de compartir tiempo con los ninos,y mostrarles que Dios les ama y que el senor tiene un proposito grande para cada uno de ellos,que son la nueva generacion que se levantan para proclamar las buenas nuevas de Dios,Hemos visto el respaldo de nustro padre y sabemos que el tiene el control de todo lo que esta a nuestro alrededor y de nustra vida.

Hello from the Kings! Thank you for praying for our family. We moved to Lake Atitlan in July and have begun an Operating Location as an extension of YWAM Antigua. We will be living at the lake full-time, and will be working to establish a permanent team here. We currently are involved in a church and Christian school by teaching the children’s programs, as well as evangelism, and networking with local pastors and getting involved with their outreach efforts into the community. Our focus of our Operating Location is prayer and spiritual restoration for families.

Going on two years, we have run a ministry called Cafe Refrescante (www.facebook.com/ CafeRefrescante; www.Refrescante.org) for the homeless, drug dependents, and those involved in gangs. We have been actively working on getting them back onto their feet. We have had the privilege to send 3 of our guys through the Discipleship Training School program and one to seminary. We have seen a lot of change in the lives of our guys. It has been such a blessing to see our street guys ministering to their own because of the discipleship we have given them.

En estos siete mese que he estado con JUCUM despues de haber terminado la EDE de febrero a Julio de tiempo completo en los ultimos meses he estado sirviendo en los diferentes ministerios de la base especialmente en la cocina ayudando y preparando almuerzo y cena para el personal y los estudiantes, para mi es un placer servirles y ser util en esta area.

Te adjunto fotos de mis actividades, en la cocina con Florecita, con Eder y Sammy en la distribucion de las biblias, y algunas fotos de las actividades del club de ninos y recientemente apoyando el club de mujeres en actividades haciendo manualidades y ensenando a los ninos.

Lamentablemente ya no podre estar en la base de tiempo completo devido a que no cuento con suficiente apoyo financiero y me veo obligado a buscar un trabajo afuera de la base mientras que mi situacion economica mejora.

The first of August all five of my English classes graduated from their level. We plan to start a new 6 month semester at the end of semester. I have about 60 students, aged 7-56. They are all very dedicated and love learning English. I have developed some very close relationships with most of them and have had the opportunity to talk to some of them about my faith, intercession, and missionary work. I pray that these relationships are strengthened in the coming semester and that God provides more opportunities for me to share His love and Word with them.

EL ministerio de mamás ha crecido bastante, gracias al respaldo de Dios, cada martes recibimos a 45 mamás y se les enseña a hacer diferentes manualidades, como preparar ensaladas, postres y todo lo relacionado a cocina, durante los últimos tres meses fuimos a las casas de diferentes mamas para compartir con ellas el amor de Dios, porque durante el tiempo que convivimos con ellas en la base no tenemos suficiente tiempo para poder hablar personalmente con cada mamá y entendemos que ellas necesitan ayuda espiritual y material. Gracias a las donaciones de Aventuras y Misiones, hace un mes estuvimos instalando estufas para cocinar con leña para 12 familias, ahora las mamás que fueron bendecidas con una estufa para cocinar ya no sufren del humo y los niños ahora están fuera de peligro, porque algunos niños se quemaban mientras las mamas cocinaban con el fuego a la vista de los niños. Pedimos sus oraciones para que Dios guie y siga bendiciendo nuestro ministerio.
